DIY Recliner Pillow

I have a Dear friend that needed a pillow for her recliner that
would stay put. You know how annoying it is when
you lean forward and your pillow falls down behind you?
I wish I could say that I came up with this idea, but I did not.
But it's genius. There is a heavier stuffed pillow on one side
a lighter stuffed pillow on the other, All you have to do is turn
it around! Mr. Incredible already wants one for his recliner.
ooooohhhhh...I love a good Christmas gift idea ;)

Scrub Top Re-Make

I bought a cute scrub top over the internet.
BIG mistake! I should know better than
to buy any brand that I have not tried on before.
This is the Re-make Picture
This is the original look of the top (below). It was too tight
under the arms, too short and the pockets were too high.
a-n-d..... too late to return.
So I had two choices. Get rid of it, or re-make it :)
I removed the pockets, hem and sleeves.
I gave it more length by ironing out the original hem and
adding some grey fabric to be folded under for the new hem.
Then I lowered the pockets as far as I could.
Easy Peasy right? lol, well no. For starters I could not find
a pattern on Pinterest that I liked or that would work for the
purpose of giving me more space under the arm.
So......
I made my own......
and.......eh...hem....
fudged my way through uncharted territory.
after much frustration and experimenting. I accomplished
my goal. The shirt looks great, will work great for summer
and can be worn with a shirt underneath when it's cold.
Note to self. Stop buying clothes over the internet!
and if  a shirt doesn't fit. Give it away.

Baby Knee Pad's

lil' Miss Fia, needed some knee pads for
protection when crawling around on
hardwood floors.

Enter: Walmart clearance tights
girls size 12, too big for a baby right?
NOT.....
I chopped them up :) lots of extra parts
for future projects. I stitched together
2 pcs. thin batting, tucked them inside
the wrong side of fabric, held with a
zigzag, and finished them up. Note to self:
next time make the top of the fold longer
so it can be folded over to make a more
tidy finish.

Custom Rice Hot/cold pack

I have a friend that needed a heat pad for her knee.
You know that old saying "Necessity is
the Mother of invention" well it was necessary,
and now it is invented :)
Here is prototype #1 which seems to work fine.
But after I made it, I decided I could do better.
So Its back to the drawing board one more time
to tweek some things. Then I will post a Pattern :)

Well hello sweet little rice wrap, Goodbye achy
painful joints. You can see some of my other "Rice Bags"

Beasley Bed Cover

I made a  Beasley Bed here  five years ago in January.
It was in desperate need of a new cover.
And Sir "Sleeps-a-lot" LOVES minky fabric!
he will steal it when he finds it. So.......
Rather than spend a fortune on fabric, I found this
Minky-like blanket for $20.00 at my local
Dollar General,Cut out a big circle, stitched a hem
around the edge for elastic.

AND..... now I have a nice looking dog bed,
Plus a happy dog. (+plus extra fabric)

Monster Bib

Hooray, all my shopping is done,
gifts are all wrapped and the last of  the
Christmas sewing is done! Whew.......

This is a bib pattern I found on Pinterest
and the pattern can be found at Stubbornly Crafty
This was my first try, so it is a little wonky at
the bottom, but it will do. I plan on making more.
It's just sew c-u-t-e!

I have been very busy.....SEWING!

Yup! My machine and I have been spending
alot of time together :)

I now have a baby to sew for ! My best friends
daughter (who is like a daughter to me) had her baby!
Mr. Incredible  and I call her lil' Miss Fia, And there is
nothing like a baby to get you in the sewing mood, and
quite frankly I needed a boost after my year away from
sewing/blogging. Look out PINTEREST here I come.
So I made some burp cloths, a teeny tiny Fia size rice heat/cold
bag, and an unfinished bib, As well as some more regular rice
bags, for some friends. Ahhhh......It feels good to be back!

Quilted Pillows

Having fun with the color spectrum, this may
be a sign of something bigger...oh like maybe..
a RAINBOW
rainbow what? that is the question :)

the pillow on the left is hand stitched, the one on the
right is machine stitched.
and a lovely orange backing to finish them off

Mod Pillow

This l-o-n-g cold winter has left me delirious and
stitch happy. I hand embroidered
on this beautiful pillow, and I even did
piping around the outside (first time ever)
sigh.... to bad it doesn't match any of my
décor. I have no place to put it!

Litttle Houses

.

These have been on my to-do list for over a year,
so fun and easy to make.
Also I was experimenting with the spider
web quilt pattern so I made a little coaster.
Yikes that took patience, I'll save that pattern for the
serious quilters

Widgetworm

I'm just havin' some fun with the latest trends.
Embroidery hoops and buntings are everywhere.
And apparently so are mice, they have been leaving
me unwanted  messages around the house. They will have
to go. But this little guy can stay and hang around
.

In case you wondered?
Widgetworm = small fidgety-wriggly child
That is what I am guessing was the thought when
my Dad gave me that nickname. My brothers nickname
was Pattywaxel, and I used to secretly wonder if he had
alot of wax in his ears. Pat + wax = Pattywaxel?
made sense to the 5 year old me.

And this is where Mr. Mouse sleeps when he is not
hanging out with the scissors.
