DIY Recliner Pillow

I have a Dear friend that needed a pillow for her recliner that
would stay put. You know how annoying it is when
you lean forward and your pillow falls down behind you?
I wish I could say that I came up with this idea, but I did not.
But it's genius. There is a heavier stuffed pillow on one side
a lighter stuffed pillow on the other, All you have to do is turn
it around! Mr. Incredible already wants one for his recliner.
ooooohhhhh...I love a good Christmas gift idea ;)

Scrub Top Re-Make

I bought a cute scrub top over the internet.
BIG mistake! I should know better than
to buy any brand that I have not tried on before.
This is the Re-make Picture
This is the original look of the top (below). It was too tight
under the arms, too short and the pockets were too high.
a-n-d..... too late to return.
So I had two choices. Get rid of it, or re-make it :)
I removed the pockets, hem and sleeves.
I gave it more length by ironing out the original hem and
adding some grey fabric to be folded under for the new hem.
Then I lowered the pockets as far as I could.
Easy Peasy right? lol, well no. For starters I could not find
a pattern on Pinterest that I liked or that would work for the
purpose of giving me more space under the arm.
So......
I made my own......
and.......eh...hem....
fudged my way through uncharted territory.
after much frustration and experimenting. I accomplished
my goal. The shirt looks great, will work great for summer
and can be worn with a shirt underneath when it's cold.
Note to self. Stop buying clothes over the internet!
and if  a shirt doesn't fit. Give it away.

Baby Knee Pad's

lil' Miss Fia, needed some knee pads for
protection when crawling around on
hardwood floors.

Enter: Walmart clearance tights
girls size 12, too big for a baby right?
NOT.....
I chopped them up :) lots of extra parts
for future projects. I stitched together
2 pcs. thin batting, tucked them inside
the wrong side of fabric, held with a
zigzag, and finished them up. Note to self:
next time make the top of the fold longer
so it can be folded over to make a more
tidy finish.

Custom Rice Hot/cold pack

I have a friend that needed a heat pad for her knee.
You know that old saying "Necessity is
the Mother of invention" well it was necessary,
and now it is invented :)
Here is prototype #1 which seems to work fine.
But after I made it, I decided I could do better.
So Its back to the drawing board one more time
to tweek some things. Then I will post a Pattern :)

Well hello sweet little rice wrap, Goodbye achy
painful joints. You can see some of my other "Rice Bags"

Blog Tags

Finally, after many years of making tags
off the cuff, in the moment, at the last minute......
I decided to eradicate the problem!

I designed what I wanted, printed them off in mass,
in all sorts of colors of cardstock. (spent many hours
watching tv and cutting) and took scraps of colored
paper and made alot of pre-punched designs.
Now all I have to do is pick the color, add some
cute embelishments and whew, NO more last
minute designing. YAY

Sewing Sanctuary

Been having fun in my Sewing Sanctuary lately :)

Beasley Bed Cover

I made a  Beasley Bed here  five years ago in January.
It was in desperate need of a new cover.
And Sir "Sleeps-a-lot" LOVES minky fabric!
he will steal it when he finds it. So.......
Rather than spend a fortune on fabric, I found this
Minky-like blanket for $20.00 at my local
Dollar General,Cut out a big circle, stitched a hem
around the edge for elastic.

AND..... now I have a nice looking dog bed,
Plus a happy dog. (+plus extra fabric)

Raincoat Re-make

A needed a shower apron, for helping a friend.
AND.....y'all know I love a good challenge. Oh,
and the local Goodwill !
Challenge+need+Goodwill = sew much fun.
I found this hideous ugly yellow raincoat on the cheap.
Chopped it up......(bonus) now I have more buttons
and clasps to add to my collection :)
and made a fantastic shower apron!
